Picture in a gift

----------------------------------------------

Dear clients, in case of the your order more than 120 tons of fuel, you receive as a gift a reproduction of a picture of Ilja Repin "Burlacks on Volga", the sizes of a canvas 131.5x281 sm.

History of creation of a picture is in detail described by Repin in the book the Far close. The initial plan of product entirely kept within the concept of "critical realism» 1860th years: the beggars peeled, dirty barge haulers in comparison to elegant crowd of summer residents (Repin has seen such scene once during walk across Neva). For the purpose of realization of this idea the artist in 1870 has undertaken a trip across Volga where has executed set of portrait sketches. From an initial plan does not remain also a trace.
The picture is constructed so, that the procession moves from depth on the spectator, but simultaneously the composition is read figures do not cover each other. It is made is masterful. Before us - a chain of characters, each of which - independent portrait individuality. Repin managed to connect convention of the picture form to surprising natural persuasiveness. The artist breaks a band of barge haulers into separate groups, comparing various characters, temperaments, human types.
The three «corennicks» heads a band: in the centre barge hauler Kanin, the person reminding to Repin of the antique philosopher, on the right - the bearded man with a little bit monkey's plastics, an embodiment of primitive dense force, on the right - the "Ilka-sailor", the embittered, hating sight stared directly on the spectator. Quiet, wise, with a little crafty stare, Kanin shows as though middle character between these two contrasts.
Other characters are so characteristic also: the high phlegmatic old man filling a tube, the young man of the Stall, unusual to such work and as if trying to be released from a strap, the dark-haired severe "Greek" who has turned back as if to call to a companion - last, lonely barge hauler, ready to fail on sand.
The beginning and the way end, the thought over narration about a life of people, years existing nearby, together - such is "superplot" by Repin Barge haulers.
